Quality Engineer

The Candidate

You will be a Quality Engineer or experienced Quality Inspector with the following skills, experiences and attributes…

  • Able to read and interpret manufacturing documents e.g. engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Experience of working in a manufacturing environment is essential.
  • Experience of working within a Quality Department is essential.
  • Excellent problem solving and logic skills.
  • Ability to communicate with colleagues, customers and suppliers.
  • Able to work with flexibility.
  • Reliable and punctual.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Excellent PC skills – Microsoft Word, Excel PowerPoint and Visio.
  • A HNC or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering
  • Associate Member of the Institute of Quality Assurance
  • Time Served
  • Internal Auditor in accordance with ISO9001:2008
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience working within a quality department

Quality Engineer

The Role

The successful candidate will be a hands on quality professional with a large part of the day being spent in a manufacturing environment and working closely with a team of Quality Inspectors.  The role will also involve chairing the daily quality meeting and assigning responsibility and accountability.  The successful candidate must be analytical and detail orientated and will demonstrate effective problem solving techniques, identify root-cause and implement change.  Positive drive, enthusiasm and passion for improvement will be essential to your success.Your main responsibilities will include…

Manage key customer concerns: Structured problem solving, working closely with engineers with regard to 8D ownership from start to speedy resolution, protecting the customer at all times.

  • Chair the daily quality meeting.  Investigate and implement corrective actions for daily internal quality concerns including communicating findings both up and down within the organisation.
  • Understanding of the requirements QMS ISO 9001 (EMS14001 would be an advantage, but not essential).
  • Calibration management.
  • Supervision of the Final Inspectors.
  • Full understanding of FMECA, Quality Plans & Inspection Test Plans.
  • Experienced in conducting First Article Inspections.
  • Customer / Supplier liaison.
  • Carry out internal audits.
  • Supporting continuous improvement projects.
  • Production support at all times.
